Bundestag Deputies Talked about the Sositions of their Parties on the Eve of the Elections to the European Parliament

Svyatoslav Andrianov participated in a panel discussion with the topic Germany before the European Elections - the Political Positioning of the Parties in the Election Campaign which took place in Berlin 8 May 2019 at the German Council on Foreign Relations.
Joining in the discussion were:
Katja Leikert – Member of the German Bundestag, deputy Chairman of the CDU / CSU faction;
Andrej Konstantin Hunko – Member of the German Bundestag, speaker on European policy from the left faction;
Michael Link – Member of the German Bundestag, speaker on European policy from the FDP;
Christian Petry – Member of the German Bundestag, speaker on European policy from the SPD;
Claudia Müller - Member of the Bundestag Committee on EU Affairs from «Union 90/ Greens» faction.
The discussion was moderated by Dr. Jana Puglerin, Head of Program, Alfred von Oppenheim Center for European Policy Studies in the DGAP.
The upcoming European Parliament elections are often called crucial. On the one hand, the Eurosceptics want to strengthen nationalist sentiment within the Union, and on the other hand, progressive parties like “La République En Marche!” are looking for opportunities for new coalitions and alliances within the European Parliament in order to implement a fundamental reform of the EU in many aspects.
The participants in the discussion, representing various German political parties, made an attempt to introduce their vision of the future of united Europe.
