September 28, 2018
On 28 September 2018 participants of the diplomatic seminar on cross-border cooperation, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany, visited the European Parliament.
The European Parliament is the legislative body of the European Union. Together with the Council of the European Union (which should not be confused with the Council of Europe), the European Parliament is a prototype of the bicameral legislative branch of power in the EU and is considered to be one of the most influential legislative forums in the world.
The European Parliament was established in 1957 and was called the Assembly of the European Communities, whose members were appointed by the parliaments of the EU Member States. Since 1979, the parliament has been elected directly by voters in all the EU Member States.
Elections are held every 5 years. The deputies of the European Parliament are divided into political factions, which are all-European party associations.
