Since 2019, in partnership with the United Nations Association of Russia and MGIMO (University) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, experts of the Center for Political Analysis and Information Security have developed a concept and conduct high-level training seminars in Berlin for students of the International Schools of Youth Diplomacy (ISYD) in the terms of the program "Russian Regions and the UN Sustainable Development Goals".
While establishing the program of the ISYD, the experts of the Center for Political Analysis and Information Security proceeded from the task of forming a comprehensive understanding on the functioning of the German political system, its current foreign policy, as well as its significant role within the framework of the European Union among the participants of the seminars.
Throughout the seminars, young people from different parts of Russia have a unique opportunity to meet German officials, politicians, representatives of the scientific and expert community. The Berlin seminars program includes meetings and discussions at the Federal Chancellor's Office, the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Bundestag, the Bundesrat, the Russian Embassy in Berlin, the European Council of Foreign Relations (ECFR), the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (CDU Party), the Center for Eastern European and International Studies (ZOiS).
The International School of Youth Diplomacy has been operating since 2008. It offers high school students a career guidance program for admission to the university in the field of international relations, international economics, international journalism and international security.
The work of the School is divided into several on-site training sessions, usually during school holidays. To obtain a Certificate of the School, signed by the rector of MGIMO, it is necessary to attend 3 sessions:
- Basic (autumn or spring), where MGIMO professors from various faculties highlight areas of international activity,
- Language session (winter or summer), during which review lectures and consultations are held on passing the entrance exam at MGIMO;
- On-site session, which takes place in one of the diplomatic capitals, such as Geneva, Brussels, Vienna, New York and Berlin.
The 1st Berlin ISYD Seminar was held from 5 to 10 January 2020.
