New Perspectives in US - EU Relations Were Discussed in Vienna

On 16 May 2017 a symposium on the theme New Perspectives in Relations between the European Union and the United States was held at the Vienna Association of Industrialists organized by the Center for Peacemaking at the University of Vienna, together with the Wilfried Martens Center for European Studies.
The Martens Center is one of the 10 largest “thought factories in the world”. It is the official analytical center of Europe’s largest right-conservative European People’s Party.
The presenters of the event:
- Dr. Werner Fasslabend, a retired Austrian Minister of Defense, told the audience about the European security in the context of NATO-FSP (Common Security and Defense Policy).
- General Dr. Walter Feichtinger, Director of the Institute for Peacemaking and Conflict Resolution of the Austrian National Defense Academy, presented the topic The Middle East - a Meeting Point for Geopolitical Interests on the current configuration of forces in the Syrian conflict and the ISIL zones of influence.
- Prof. Dr. Bernhard Felderer, President of the Austrian Council for Fiscal Policy, spoke on the subject America First According to the Free Trade Version.
- Ges.Mag. Yvonne Toncic-Sorinj, Director of the EU Affairs Department of the Austrian Foreign Ministry, spoke about the future of the European Union.
