The Non-alternative Path to European Stability was the theme of the conference, which was attended by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Chairman of the Board of the German-Russian Forum, Former Prime Minister Matthias Platzeck, Special Envoy of the President of the Russian Federation for International Cultural Cooperation Mikhail Shvydkoy and other distinguished experts.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, who participated in the event, stated that it was not uncommon when the attempts to build a dialogue with partners in the West met with resistance. According to Head of Foreign Ministry the bloc thinking of the partners was to blame.
“It is obvious that in the modern interconnected world it is no longer possible to create separate islands of security. A shared problem we are certain every single day of can be only solved jointly. We have consistently maintained that without the consolidation of all states potentials it is impossible to ensure Europe, including the European Union, a worthy place in the new polycentric system of the world order. Besides, history has repeatedly demonstrated that attempts to isolate Russia invariably led to political ramifications for the entire continent. At the same time, the active involvement of our country in its affairs was accompanied by long periods of stability”, the Minister noted.
